Billings Learned Hand, (1872-1961) Senior Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit
Canadians tend to look south for many reasons and in a time of crisis, we might want to listen to the famous American Jurist, Judge Learned Hand. One of the most fervent defenders of the right to dissent, he became famous not only for his controversial decisions but also for his philosophy and his writings generally. Here is a sample of what he thought about freedom of speech as it pertains to communists and other people you might disagree with:
“Risk for risk, for myself I had rather take my chance that some traitors will escape detection than spread . . . a spirit of general suspicion and distrust. . . .The mutual confidence on which all else depends can be maintained only by an open mind and a brave reliance upon free discussion.”
It’s clear that Justin T has never heard of this quote nor does he care. It’s largely due to his arrogance and dishonesty that mutual confidence in Canada is all but gone. Justin is in hiding, has declared that he will not talk to the Freedom Convoy, and is no doubt plotting his next move. That is actually his job, to talk to people who dare to disagree with him, but he is not in the mood. He prefers to smear and denigrate a serious, widespread and above all, legitimate, movement.
This weekend is crunch time in Canada because the Freedom Convoy is still massing in the nation’s capital, Ottawa, and they expect to get reinforcements. More brave freedom loving True North Canucks are coming while temperatures and media standards are still plunging. I sometimes wonder how the truckers survive, like, where to they sleep and who is providing the bathrooms??? And what about the money?
Apparently, the funding is still up in the air because that bunch of cowards at GoFundMe are withholding money that doesn’t belong to them. Millions that everyday Canadians donated to the truckers are not available to them. That used to be known as theft, but along with tolerance, reason, and good will, it has left the Canadian building.
But we still have LIBERTY. Those who stand with the Freedom Convoy and the truckers, have it, and it lives in their hearts. I wrote about the legal issues surrounding the mandates in my last post; in this post I want to talk about Feelings. Because in the end, if you don’t feel that your Liberty is under attack, then everything is just fine. The mandates are just a minor inconvenience if you take Liberty out of the equation. I know that all too many people in Canada think this way. The Freedom Convoy is a loud, constant reminder that not everyone in this country has turned their backs on Liberty. That it is alive and well though struggling to get through to the smug, well heeled class of professionals and enablers who have done well during this pandemic because they could just work from home and collect big government bonuses.
This privileged class just doesn’t want to acknowledge that they are part of the most serious constitutional crisis that Canada has seen since the October Crisis in 1970, which ended with Pierre Elliott Trudeau, father of the unjust Justin, calling out the military. All we can hope for is that his traitor son doesn’t follow suit. Details here:

Nobody knows how this inconvenient trucker wake up call is going to end, but I have a hunch the cry from the heart is being heard, so it cannot be easily dismissed. That it will echo and wake up those people who believe that they can continue to straddle the icy Canadian fence. That time is over. Liberty lives with the truckers in Ottawa and Toronto and even in Britain this weekend, and the words of Learned Hand, once again remind us of what matters most:
Liberty lies in the hearts of men and women; when it dies there no constitution, no law and no court can save it.
So question your heart: does Liberty live there or are you going to hide from your heart, like Justin the Unjust. It’s time to come clean.
You said it. For the rest of this year, we'll be doing all kinds of sorting, of people, of ideas, of every damn thing that is important. Thanks for reading and commenting!
I am continually flabbergasted by just how compliant and smug most of my compatriots are in this country. I've thought from the get-go that this pandemic agenda will be the seminal event of our times, and by that, I mean it has become a filter, sorting out the people who still have a notion of what a genuine liberal democracy is, and those who are just along for the ride and will go along with whatever status quo is being foisted on us.
