For the Year of the Dragon

Ghost at the Dragon Dance

I saw you yesterday

Healthy, handsome & alive

my husband dead these 35 years

Paralyzed, I watched as you

stride past me

As the Dragon drums are beating

Gung Hay Fat Choy

Happy New Year

The Dragon dances

yellow red purple undulations

The crowd is thick

My mind adrift

Is this an omen

Of the year to come

perhaps a warning

Failing to ask/Failing to act/

When it is time

You were never mine

We parted

You departed for the other side

But I’m still here

With my prickly pride &

These gigantic red/yellow/purple
