LOVE BITE
It came from behind and bit me/while I wasn’t looking
just cooking something for dinner/do you remember what we ate
I could talk about the hate/the rough patches
That came later
It was all a long time ago
I took no pictures of you in my bed/I wish I could forget that
I’m not in love with you
How could I be/We have just one soul correction
Such a strange connection
After we departed
Our bodies went free, in opposite directions
Do you recall the offerings we made
To each other, small tokens of an affection
Not wanted on the voyage
The itching from the bite keeps me awake at night
Such a raw connection
It’s spring and the ice is melting/The Forsythia a lake of gold
you flinch when you behold/me/ uncertain unworthy old
I yearn for these arrows of a careless Cupid
Piercing my flesh at the stake
You despise all the gods
I feel absolutely stupid/keep scratching the itch
Composing puerile poems/an old witch chanting
Such a bloody connection
There’s nothing to be done/Our soul is dancing
We’re off in our corners
Getting the mouthpiece ready/Nothing is as steady as
This unspeakable connection
