Thanks Geoff! I seem to have a tendency to want new challenges all the time and the essay format no longer fits the bill. Writing short stories will though. Reading Durrell's masterpiece The Alexandria Quartet after a 60 year pause: it is full of deep insight on the life of the writer and the artist...I couldn't have understood it when I was 23, but I was addicted to that book at the time. Like meeting an old friend again and finding him more fascinating than ever...if only I could write like that! The main character is Pursewarden, likely a stand in for Durrell himself. Ah, the life of the writer...
